Human existence is based upon the ability to comprehend, create, and communicate meaning. Our attempts to establish this meaning lead us to create symbolic relationships that ultimately define our community and culture. The arts have always been a part of the foundation and framework of our cultural heritage, and we need to preserve this vehicle of meaning.
